• About Me

    Jake Morris

    Hi!

My name is Jake. I sure can spend a lot of time thinking. Whether I am playing basketball, listening to hip-hop, or spending time with my little ones, I’m not always in the moment, but I usually know how to get back on track. I’m an introvert who loves to socialize. Yet, through my own therapy, learned how to embrace my laid back attitude and busy mind.

I work with individuals who are unsure of themselves, feel a strong need to be achieving, often wondering how others think about them, experience feedback as rejection, and often take care of others first. They know that they have been affected by others and past relationships in an impactful way. Having had my own experience with this (which is going to be different from yours,) I know the value of stepping fully into who you are.

If you are thinking that these thoughts and worries have some insight to them but don’t want all the affects that come with them, you’re my people. I am trained in therapies that will help us address these different parts of you that show up and can help them feel understood and get along with one another.

    My Experience & Your Experience

I manage stress by doing the things I love most in life: spending time with my wife and kids, playing basketball, listening to hip-hop, reading, spending time outdoors with friends, and caring for nature and animals.

I am a naturally curious person so I would love to get to the what it is like to be you and how you see and experience the world. In session you will find that we spend time at the beginning laying this foundation and then I will ask us to try to really “be” with some of these details you share with me.

I would like clients to know that I recognize how vulnerability can be challenging, that this is not an advice giving session, you are the expert on you, and we are both humans on the same playing field at the end of the day. What you are thinking and feeling is valid and we are on the same team. I find sessions to be most helpful when it is a two way street, a conversation about you and your history that we can learn from. I am accepting of all backgrounds including identity, gender, sexuality, race, religion, and sex.
